The breeze has settled around the grey trees,
school has let out for the summer,
and a steel and glass bar run by the cell phone company
has replaced the smoky indoor arena, where once,
the band turned sound into gasping galaxies.
Now there are just little charcoal fires
in the corners of my mind
where I sell burnt pretzels to my memory,
on its way to make Aliyah.
