Everything is a little more leafed out,
darker green, thicker, and more full.
We'll have cool mornings and warmer days,
rain will drip gently off the trees
before finding the ground.
Soon it will be summer,
where if I am very lucky,
I will find the heavy absence of time
in the bee-crossed air
under high rhododendrons
on a trail in the Poconos.
I will remember then that I am moist
and cannot walk too far without water,
so that I can leave soft and grateful footprints
for another season.
